[NOTE:] All the emoticons here were created by me (mimi1708). However, I learned the basics for being able to emoticonize by watching emoticons created by other people (mostly my DA idols), meaning not all emoticons can be considered 100% original. I even used some msn referrences as you can see, but I try not to "blame" myself too much for doing so 'cause I know I'm still a rookie at this and that I have a long way to go. Personally, I don't consider myself an emoticonist. I have many emoticonists I idolize here on DA (like =Abfc and =de-Mote) and I know I still have a lot to learn. But even though I don't intend to be a professional emoticonist or something like that, it doesn't mean I don't enjoy what I do. I love to do my own emoticons, pixel by pixel. They even help me relax at times. But it also means I put a lot of effort and sweat here. When I am really focused I can work almost 12 hours in a row... my mom even has to remind me about the existance of something she likes to call "food"...
I allow any rookies (or curious non-rookies) to inspire themselves on my emoticons, just like I do with other people's emoticons. MEANING exactly what? I don't mean you copy the all emoticon (that I would consider stealing), but maybe a few ideas, like the colors, facial expressions or acessories. For you to be able to understand a bit better, I have a few examples of my own emoticons.
I made this emoticon based on this one, but as you can see they don't look the same.
ALSO, when you create an emoticon based on one of my emoticons, you should please send me a link to your emoticon just like the people who use my stamps bases do. Why? Because I LOVE to see new ways of art! I belive every artist has a unique style and I would like to be aware of all the great emoticonists out there
Finally, I'd like to make a suggestion to all rookies and newbies out there (not the same as noobs people xD). I remember how stressful can be to try to create our first emoticons. We've already seen thousands of them (or at least I had seen) and we want to create something original, different, unique. You can try if you want, buy maybe you shouldn't. If your trying to make your first emoticons try something basic first before starting to inovate. If you're having problems being creative you can try a trick I used. Do research on emoticons and expecially on emoticons' facial expressions. Save them all in a drawing program (personally I prefer MS Paint) and then just have fun with it. Mix several faces to create new ones! I'm sure you'll be creating your very own emoticons in no-time But remember... don't push it; the trick is to have fun with it.
